The above photo is a Russian water well. They made a deep hole inside the thick layer of ice. From where they get fresh water. The well is about 16 feet (5 meters). In the above photo you can see the sunlight penetrating through the thick layer of Ice
This is photo from so called “oasis”, where the temperature is about 5 degrees higher than around, so a hot place over there. Penguins have a strange ritual, from generation to generation they go on pilgrimage, just to reach this place, stay there for just a few hours and get back to their usual places of living.
This truck was abandoned there since the Soviet era of Antarctic exploration.
Anton Chekalin has visited Russian Antarctic station there are the shots taken by him in some interesting places.
