Kayaker Pedro Olivia - Record fall at 38.7m

Kayaker Pedro Olivia made a new record fall at 38.7 by free falling for 2.95 seconds before hitting the pool below. He hit the pool at the rate of 70kmph. The previous record was 33m.

After he made the record, shared his experience with the media. he said "Once you are in the kayak at river level the slope of the falls hides all but those seemingly inconspicuous markers that you have chosen. The actual free fall felt like an eternity of acceleration and waiting for a huge impact in the pool below. As I drifted over vertical into a head down position I braced for the worst in a protective tuck position. But the massive impact never came.”
